Building the UK's First Black-Led AI for Good Network

Policy Influence & Movement Building

  • Black and Global Majority communities continue to be systematically excluded from AI policy conversations, both the opportunities being created and the decisions being made. AI systems are perpetuating harm through biased algorithms in hiring, credit scoring, criminal justice, and healthcare, with little authentic community voice in the rooms where AI regulation is being shaped.

  • Since launching Black AI Futures in June 2025 with a parliamentary event hosted by Dawn Butler MP and Bell Ribeiro-Addy MP, we've been building formal partnerships with two All-Party Parliamentary Groups on AI, consulting with 500+ community members, and establishing a 70+ member working group of practitioners and experts. We're actively shaping UK AI legislation and expanding our reach through international partnerships, including the UN AI for Good Summit and Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation.

    • Formal partnerships with UK Parliament's AI APPG and Governance & Inclusive Leadership APPG

    • 500+ community members engaged and growing across events, workshops, and consultations

    • Actively shaping the Online Harms Bill and Civil Rights Bill

    • Represented at UN AI for Good Summit in Geneva, with ongoing international expansion

    • 70+ member expert working group providing evidence-based policy recommendations

    • Trained 40+ government leaders on AI strategy and ethical implementation, with programmes continuing

    • Ongoing research and policy briefs being submitted to Parliament on AI regulation
